So it’s the new year and if you allow yourself to think about it, the beginning of a year full of fun, joy and lovely family holidays, hopefully!
If you haven’t been to the South Hams in Devon before, you will have missed an absolute treat. Rolling countryside, superb beaches and pristine coastline, with some of the prettiest towns in the county.
Planning a holiday shouldn’t be a chore, but as all working mums and dads will agree, they are a bit of a chore! There is usually only one holiday fairy in any household. This is a MASSIVE task.
Not only do you have to book the holiday, you have to plan every day, especially if you have kids and dogs. Will a holiday home take your dog (or your kids for that matter!), will it be too posh so that you worry about muddy paws or chocolaty hands? This can be an uphill struggle to navigate and that is even before you start to think about packing!
Yep, the holiday fairy packs everything, clothes, medicines, toys, dog food, iPhone charger, waterproof jackets (you never know) and the list goes on. Then you have to get it all in the car…plus you do need to be a top adult entertainer for the kids whilst stuck in a traffic jam for hours.
But, once you arrive in Devon, there is nowhere quite like it…and Dartmouth in the South Hams is a gem of a town, breathtakingly picturesque and a perfect location to enjoy some quality family time. There is even an independent vintners selling amazing wine, which as we all know is obligatory on holidays, as well as some fabulous restaurants and pubs.
Once here why not relax and let us take you and your loved ones, yes even your four legged friend, out on a charter trip aboard our wonderful classic wooden yacht, Escape. She is a 43-foot wooden classic gaff yawl built in 1937 by Kristensen in Norway. She was originally designed by Colin Archer as a sailing lifeboat but was refined to make her slightly smaller and easier to sail by her owners. Escape is fully MCA coded to carry 8 passengers plus 2 crew with all the necessary safety and navigation equipment to make offshore passages.
So sail around the coastline and take in the views, breathe deeply and appreciate the sea air. Maybe swim to a beach, enjoy lunch or dinner, and have a go at sailing. All in the capable hands of Andy and his crew. It really could be ‘your escape’ for the holiday where all you have to do is think about yourself (after you have packed jumpers, sun cream, hats etc.!)
